Omegafriends Background:
Aya was born in Venture City, a second-generation immigrant from a Japanese family. With no special events in her youth, she quickly developed an interest in the journalist's diligent pursuit of the truth (or something like it). She joined the Venture High school newspaper staff, rising to the club president in her Junior year.
Near the end of this year, there was a shift in Aya's fortune! Through a combination of luck and tenacity, she managed to capture a series of high-quality photos of a certain notoriously elusive member of the Omegafriends (whose identity I am leaving ambiguous as a possible plot hook). Using these as leverage, she got herself a part-time job working as a photographer for the Daily Venture. Her specialty: Hunting down the Omegafriends in action.
Personality:
The heart of a reporter burns within Aya - however, it's not the part of the journalistic spirit that desires to get to the bottom of the truth. No, her view of journalism is unusually cynical for someone who's interested in the field. To Aya, being a reporter is all about stirring up wild sensational stories, and basking in the frenzy and attention that follows.
In other words, Aya is not actually a very good reporter. She cares less about getting the true story and more about getting the story people will be interested in hearing. Often at the expense of the person being reported on. All things being equal, she had at least a vague preference for accuracy, but it's not enough to get in her way, or even make her feel bad about distorting the truth for her own vaguely nefarious purposes.
Aya has a tendency to forget to take self-preservation into account when she gets excited. She'd unhesitatingly crash into an Omegafriends battle without a single superpower to her name if it means getting an exclusive scoop. This isn't because she's brave, exactly - it's more because the prospect that it's dangerous doesn't occur to her until after the fact. When she's chasing a story or a photo opportunity, her tenacity takes over, and common sense goes out the window.
One her powers kick in, Aya's alter ego is the mysterious masked maverick, Tengu. She likes being a super because the mask lets her stop caring what he world thinks about her - to even even greater extent than she already does normally. The possibility of all the heroes she's slandered finding out about who she is stops her from joining the Omegafriends, and she thinks being independent is more fun, anyway. In her super activities, every villainous act she encounters is a balancing question of whether to stop it or use it as her next scoop.
Powers:
Aya will initially be non-powered, but some Meteor Radiation will later land her with super-speed - not Flash levels, but enough to mean she usually has the speed advantage on her foes. On top of that, she'll be able to fly, with precision increasing as she gets used to the power.
